Going Diving

After making two attempts at hooking the Water Tower Barge, we estimated the current was ripping and we would be better off aiming for a bigger target, like the 220ft Jupiter Star.

Dive 1: Jupiter Star

We took a big 500ft lead into the drop so we would have plenty of time to get down. We were drifting at 130ft we ran into her bow resting on her port side

Our plan was to head for the engine room so we drifted down the cargo hold out of the current until we reached the funnel. Jody ran the line in, Marv followed and I brought up the rear with foolish hoped of taking some photos.

At the end of the funnel you have to make a hard left turn between two beams. It requires you to life up your deco bottle and keep it to your side, while you shimmy thru. The engine room is huge with one big engine and a 10ft long electrical panel.

Coming out, it looked like smoke was billowing from all the silt. Jody’s exit photo is at the top of the page. We swam back up to the bow and then drifted down the starboard side. We drifting off the wreck, I tried for a wide-angle shot, but found my camera was dead. I forgot to charge the batteries after last weeks diving.
